Job summary

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) invites a Senior Risk Advisor to join the PTA Project Delivery Division in East Perth, WA. This fixed-term role spans three years with potential renewal or permanency, focusing on risk and issue management across major infrastructure projects and governance compliance.

You will lead risk workshops, maintain risk registers, support assurance activities and drive continuous improvement through stakeholder collaboration and robust reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in risk management frameworks and governance requirements (AS/NZS ISO 31000).
  • Ability to lead, influence and support stakeholders including senior leaders and agencies.
  • Strong reporting skills to support informed decision-making.
  • Proven capability as a Lead Auditor/Auditor and mentor of risk practices.

Job description

Join the PTA Project Delivery Division (PPD) and play a key role in delivering effective risk and issue management across major infrastructure projects. You will provide expert risk advice, facilitate risk workshops, maintain risk registers and action plans, monitor controls and treatment actions, and ensure compliance with PTA governance frameworks and risk management standards. Your insights and reporting will support informed decision-making and strengthen project outcomes.

Working closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders, you will also coordinate business continuity planning, support assurance and audit activities, and drive continuous improvement in risk management practices. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement, and experience managing risk in complex project environments.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in risk and issue management, with a strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance requirements, audit processes, and quantitative risk analysis methodologies, including AS/NZS ISO 31000 principles and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and support stakeholders across complex project environments, building strong relationships, providing expert advice, and liaising effectively with senior leaders, government agencies, contractors and consultants.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills, with the ability to assess risks, identify improvement opportunities, formulate practical solutions, and produce high-quality reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in rail or similar industries, with demonstrated capability as a Lead Auditor/Auditor, strong computer literacy, and the ability to mentor, coach and train others in risk management practices and systems.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available for three years with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.

To be eligible to work at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa for the full term of the contract.
