Job summary

Winchester Australia is seeking an experienced Gunsmith/Armourer to join our Geelong Head Office. The role focuses on high-quality gunsmithing, technical expertise and range support to customers, Sales teams and industry partners.

The successful candidate will perform repairs, provide technical guidance, maintain workshop and range operations, and engage with Military and Law Enforcement customers, with opportunities for international travel.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in gunsmithing and firearm servicing.
  • Knowledge of Victorian firearms regulations and trade requirements.
  • Gunsmith/Armourer certification or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Experience in firearms-related industries.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills; proficient with MS Office.
  • Current driver’s licence and commitment to WHS and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform warranty repairs, paid repairs, servicing, testing and other gunsmithing activities to a high standard.
  • Provide technical advice and support to Sales and Customer Service for timely outcomes.
  • Maintain the gunsmith workshop and range for a safe, clean and professional environment.
  • Provide range testing capability and support to Military and Law Enforcement customers.
  • Develop relationships with internal teams, brand partners and industry contacts.
  • Manage gunsmithing inventory and ensure accurate stock control.
  • Maintain records and ensure work is captured in company systems.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, quality standards and WHS.
  • Undertake International travel to suppliers for technical training and skills development

Winchester Australia is seeking an experienced and technically capable Gunsmith/Armourer to join our team at our Geelong Head Office.

Role Responsibilities
  • Perform warranty repairs, paid repairs, servicing, testing and other gunsmithing activities to a consistently high standard.
  • Provide technical advice and support to Sales and Customer Service, helping deliver timely and practical customer outcomes.
  • Maintain the gunsmith workshop and range to ensure a safe, clean, functional and professional environment.
  • Provide range testing capability and technical support to Military and Law Enforcement customers.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, brand partners and industry contacts.
  • Manage relevant gunsmithing, ballistics and destruction-goods inventory, ensuring accurate stock control and processing.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all work is captured within company systems.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, company policies, quality standards and WHS requirements, while contributing to projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake International travel to suppliers for technical training and skills development
Key Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience in gunsmithing, firearm servicing and workshop activities, including the safe use of relevant machinery and equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable firearms legislation, trade requirements and Victorian regulations, together with a current and relevant firearms licence.
  • Gunsmith / Armourer certification or a relevant equivalent trade qualification, such as Fitter & Turner.
  • Previous experience within the firearms, shooting or associated industries.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with good computer literacy including Microsoft Office and business applications.
  • A current driver’s licence and a strong commitment to WHS, safety and compliance.
