Job summary

Direct Recruitment seeks a skilled Gunsmith / Armourer for our Geelong Head Office. You will perform hands-on gunsmithing, range operations and customer support across leading brands and customers.

Join a well-established organisation with long-standing experience, working alongside Sales, Customer Service, Military and Law Enforcement teams.

Qualifications

• Gunsmith/Armourer certification or trade qualification (e.g. Fitter & Turner).
• Experience in gunsmithing, firearm servicing and workshop activities with safe machinery use.
• Knowledge of firearms legislation, trade requirements and Victorian regulations; current firearms licence.
• Previous experience in firearms, shooting or related industries.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; computer literacy including MS Office.
• Valid driver’s licence and commitment to WHS and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform warranty repairs, paid repairs, servicing and gunsmithing to high standards.
• Provide technical advice to Sales and Customer Service for timely outcomes.
• Maintain workshop and range to be safe, clean and professional.
• Provide range testing and technical support to Military and Law Enforcement customers.
• Develop relationships with internal teams, brand partners and industry contacts.
• Manage gunsmithing inventory and stock control; maintain accurate records.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a hands-on professional who combines strong technical capability with attention to detail, sound judgement and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
You will ideally have:

• Gunsmith / Armourer certification or a relevant equivalent trade qualification, such as Fitter & Turner.
• Demonstrated experience in gunsmithing, firearm servicing and workshop activities, including the safe use of relevant machinery and equipment.
• Sound knowledge of applicable firearms legislation, trade requirements and Victorian regulations, together with a current and relevant firearms licence.
• Previous experience within the firearms, shooting or associated industries.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with good computer literacy including Microsoft Office and business applications.
• A current driver's licence and a strong commitment to WHS, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform warranty repairs, paid repairs, servicing, testing and other gunsmithing activities to a consistently high standard.
• Provide technical advice and support to Sales and Customer Service, helping deliver timely and practical customer outcomes.
• Maintain the gunsmith workshop and range to ensure a safe, clean, functional and professional environment.
• Provide range testing capability and technical support to Military and Law Enforcement customers.
• Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, brand partners and industry contacts.
• Manage relevant gunsmithing, ballistics and destruction-goods inventory, ensuring accurate stock control and processing.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all work is captured within company systems.
• Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, company policies, quality standards and WHS requirements, while contributing to projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
