Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) in Sydney invites a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate to join the Rail & Metro team in North Sydney as part of the two-year Graduate Development Program designed to accelerate growth with hands-on project experience and structured learning.

As a Graduate, you’ll work on major rail and transport infrastructure projects, receive mentoring, and develop consulting skills through workshops and on-the-job experience.

Qualifications

A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).

Responsibilities

Contribute to the delivery of real projects by supporting design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation.
Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under guidance from senior engineers.
Participate in site visits and inspections to develop an understanding of how designs are implemented on live projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones.
Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience.
