Job summary

The Audit Office of New South Wales is seeking an experienced risk professional for the role of Associate Director, Governance (Risk) in Sydney. You will lead the enterprise risk management framework, provide authoritative risk advice to the CRO, CIO and governance committees, and strengthen internal controls and organisational resilience.

• Tertiary qualification in governance or equivalent with public sector focus.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk and compliance requirements.
• Experience applying ISO 31000 and related standards in public sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise risk management framework aligned to NSW Treasury policy and ISO standards.
• Provide authoritative risk advice to senior stakeholders and governance committees.
• Design and maintain business continuity planning framework and incident response capabilities.
• Lead internal controls monitoring, risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Build and mentor direct reports; collaborate with internal audit and governance partners.
• Report risk insights clearly to executive leadership and key committees.
