Job summary

The Audit Office of New South Wales invites an experienced risk advisor for a newly created Associate Director, Governance (Risk). You will report to the Director, Governance & Risk, acting as a trusted adviser on risk and resilience while enhancing the enterprise risk management framework across the organisation.

Your work will strengthen internal controls, resilience, and reporting, influencing senior leadership, committees, and stakeholders within the public sector.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in governance for the public sector.
• Strong understanding of NSW Treasury policy and ISO standards (ISO 31000:2018; ISO 37301:2021).
• Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.
• Ability to translate risk concepts into practical advice for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance the enterprise risk management framework in line with NSW Treasury policy, ISO standards, and good practice.
• Provide authoritative risk insights to the CRO and leadership, including trends and factors relevant to cyber and AI risk.
• Design, implement and maintain business continuity planning framework.
• Advise on responses to data breaches and coordinate with IT on cyber risk management.
• Lead and mentor direct reports and collaborate with the Integrity team on governance activities.
