Job summary

Serco is recruiting for a Region–Medical Officer at ACTHealth Centre, Campbell Base, Canberra, ACT. The civilian GP role focuses on primary care within a Defence health setting, offering longer appointments with dedicated admin time and a predictable day schedule.

You will provide high-quality primary care to Defence personnel, including fitness-for-duty assessments, preventive health, and chronic disease management, in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted AHPRA GP registration.
• FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration.
• Minimum two years' GP experience in the last five years.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009).

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members.
• Occupational Medicine environment, including fitness-for-duty and pre/post-deployment care, injury management, chronic disease management and preventive health.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellbeing is paramount.

About ACT Health Centre

Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward whichoperates24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health,pharmaceuticaland physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles. Standard hours of operation aregenerally 0800-1600Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groupsrequiredfor weekend and on-call shifts).

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours,weekendand on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.
