Job summary

The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust is seeking a dedicated Funeral Services Officer to support crematorium operations and client service at Altona. You will handle data administration, gatehouse duties and memorialisation tasks with empathy and professionalism.

The role is permanent full-time, $77,566.99 per year, with two RDOs per month. A current driver's licence, attention to detail and strong MS Office skills are essential, along with a customer-focused approach and the ability to

Responsibilities

• General crematorium duties including processing and CR storage.
• Data administration of deceased and cremated remains.
• Gatehouse duties escorting funeral services and families to burial site.
• Interments with no family present and related retrieval/scattering tasks.
• Memorialisation options including plaque management.
• Receiving deliveries from funeral directors and verifying paperwork.

The opportunity

The Funeral Services team is responsible for supporting the delivery of funeral operations through a range of activities that require attention to detail, strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach. You will need emotional intelligence, sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service.

Introduction

• Permanent, Full time Position
• $77,566.99
• Two RDO's (Rostered Days Off) per month
• Location: Altona

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• General crematorium duties - processing and CR storage and handling
• Data administration of deceased and cremated remains
• Perform gatehouse duties such as escort for funeral services and families for to burial site
• No-family in attendance CR Interments, retrieval or scattering
• Memorialisation options (including plaque management)
• Receive deliveries from funeral directors and confirm paperwork is correct and meets the requirements of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act.

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Current Driver’s license (mandatory)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suit of programs
• Experience in the provision of customer service and support, with attention to detail, a calm and professional demeanor, as well as flexibility and initiative in dealing with the unexpected.
• Display commitment to meeting the expectations and requirements of customers in a supportive and thoughtful manner.
• Displayssensitivity and maintainconfidentiality in dealing with the family and friends of the bereaved.
• Display commitment to working cooperatively with allstaff involved in both the planning and execution of funeral services
• Understanding/experience in the operation of Audio/Visual/DVD equipment (desirable).
• Mechanical qualifications or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Multi lingual skills (Chinese, Italian, Greek, Arabic, etc.) is highly desirable.
