Job summary

Vue Wine Bar & Restaurant, a contemporary fine-dining venue on Queensland's Capricorn Coast in Yeppoon, is seeking full-time chefs and cooks. The role offers 38 hours per week, minimum 4 weeks annual leave, and salary plus super.

You must hold a relevant industry qualification and have 1–2 years of experience in a similar position. Shifts include nights, weekends, public holidays, and school holidays; work as part of a busy kitchen team in a modern setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated food preparation, cooking and plating skills.
• Strong focus on maintaining consistent food quality, taste and presentation.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu standards.
• Experience working across grill, pans and other commercial kitchen sections.
• Ability to manage high-volume service periods while maintaining quality and efficiency.
• Contribute to menu planning, seasonal dishes and the development of new menu items.
• Assist with food costing, portion control and minimising food wastage.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving food supplies.
• Ensure ingredients and food products are stored, rotated and handled correctly.
• Maintain sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work closely with the senior chefs, kitchen team and management to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
• Communicate with the front-of-house team regarding dietary requirements, allergies and special customer requests.
• Maintain clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current food trends, cooking methods and culinary techniques.
• Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen procedures.
