Job summary

TruFusion Indian Bar and Grill – Yeppoon is seeking a permanent full-time Chef to join our kitchen team. You will plan menus, monitor quality, and work across all sections including seafood and grill, with emphasis on hygiene and allergen management.

Candidates should hold AQF Certificate IV in kitchen management (or higher) and have 1–3 years of relevant experience. Full-time availability is essential to support flexible hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan menus, seasonal specials and function offerings and manage costs.
• Monitor dish quality at all stages to maintain standards.
• Discuss preparation, service and dietary requirements with staff.
• Demonstrate techniques and guide kitchen staff.
• Prepare and cook across all sections, including seafood and grill.
• Enforce hygiene and allergen safety regulations.
• Select and train kitchen staff.
• Manage stock and minimise wastage through freezing and preservation.

Job description duties and responsibilities:

• Plan menus, seasonal specials and function offerings; estimate food and labour costs; and order food supplies and kitchen stock
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure a consistent standard
• Discuss food preparation and service issues with management, kitchen and waiting staff, and dietary/nutrition requirements where required
• Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures
• Prepare and cook food across all sections of the menu, including seafood and grill
• Explain and enforce hygiene and food safety regulations, including safe food handling and allergen management
• Select and train kitchen staff
• Freeze and preserve foods to manage stock and minimise wastage

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

We are seeking a candidate who possesses the following qualifications, experience, and abilities:

Relevant AQF Certificate IV in kitchen management, Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma qualification.

1-3 years of relevant, full-time employment experience, depending upon qualifications held.

Ability to work on a full-time basis essential.
