Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for The Beacon Homelessness Support Service in Perth. This full-time role focuses on front-of-house duties, resident contact, intake information, and coordination of information about accommodation and services.

Commitment to safety and compassionate service is essential. It is a shift-based position with day, afternoon and night shifts, working within a warm, inclusive team that supports residents at every step of their journey

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent.
  • Experience in homelessness or human services is desirable.
  • Understanding of trauma impacts and social disadvantage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, professional first point of contact for residents, visitors and callers.
  • Gather essential intake information and ensure accurate, timely data entry.
  • Share clear information about accommodation and support options.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff via email and handover processes.
  • Support daily and after-hours operations to ensure smooth running.
  • Maintain a visible onsite presence to promote safety and respectful conduct.
  • Respond calmly to distressing situations and challenging behaviours.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment.
