Job summary

Datalogic is seeking a Field Service Engineer based in Sydney, Australia, to lead installation, configuration, and commissioning of equipment at customer sites. You will perform preventive maintenance, train customers, and ensure safety procedures are followed, while providing remote and on-site support.

You will work closely with sales and technical teams, support pre- and post-sales activities, and travel regionally up to ~30% to meet customer needs and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BS in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Fluent in English.
• 5+ years of experience in Transportation and Logistics products and applications.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install (mechanical, cabling), configure and start-up Datalogic equipment at customer site per specs to high quality standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance within quoted timelines.
• Adjust or replace onsite Datalogic devices in customer systems.
• Train customers on how their Datalogic equipment functions and how to fix/replace devices.
• Adhere to safety and security onsite procedures and standards.
• Provide remote support (phone, remote dial-in) for product configuration or problem solving.
• Escalate to higher technical levels when issues cannot be solved locally.
• Prepare timely and accurate service reports and expense reports.
• Assist with technical assessments of customer applications and requirements in pre-sales and post-sales support.
• Collaborate with sales teams, assess technical problems from customer samples, and propose solutions.
• Support beta customers and demonstrate products at trade shows; prepare and deliver technical seminars.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer, based in Sydney Australia with the key mission to work on product and solution innovation.

He/she will be in charge of:

• Installing (mechanical, cabling), configuration and start-up (commissioning) of Datalogic equipment at customer site as per pre-defined specifications with the highest quality standards
• Perform preventive maintenance on Datalogic equipment within the quoted timeline
• Adjust and/or replace onsite Datalogic devices of existing customer systems
• Train customer's on how their Datalogic equipment functions and how to fix/replace a device when it has failed
• Follow rigorously safety and security onsite company procedures
• Support remotely (phone, remote dial-in) the customer with product configuration or problem solving
• Escalate to upper technical level problems that can’t be solved independently
• Issue timely and accurate service reports (including expenses report)
• Assist with technical assessment of customer applications and requirement in pre-sales and technical support in post-sales situations, for Datalogic’s products.
• Work closely with the sales team, be sensitive to sales situations, and able to quickly analyze a technical problem through customer’s sample evaluations, recommend and implement a solution to meet the customers’ requirements.
• Other responsibilities include preparing software and hardware to demonstrate Datalogic’s products/system capabilities during trade shows, preparing and conducting technical seminar presentation, and supporting beta customers.
• Provide front-line technical support. Interface and coordinate with global technical support group to meet customers’ satisfaction.
• This position would requires regional traveling, any candidate should be willing to travel at short notice.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education (SCHOOL/SPECIALIZATION): Diploma or BS in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent real world experience.
• Languages: English
• Experiences: A minimum of 5 years of experience on Transportation and Logistics products and application software is required.
• Understand ID products and able to make demos.
• Understanding of the PC and industrial networking environment.
• Other information & specific skills: Good working attitude of devoting to team goal, and to helping customer to solve their problem in a timely and satisfactory manner.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good communication, presentation, problem analytical and solving skills. Can-do and go getter attitude is a must.
