Job summary

University of Technology Sydney (UTS) on Broadway, Sydney, seeks a Fabrication Workshop Supervisor to lead the Fabrication Workshop, Digital MakerSpace and Soft Model Workshop. The role drives teaching and research support, overseeing staff who guide academic staff and students with safe fabrication practices and project execution.

About the Role

The Fabrication Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Faculty’s Fabrication Workshop, Digital MakerSpace and Soft Model Workshop.

The successful candidate will also lead a team of technical staff who provide support, advice and instruction to academic staff and students to maximise related teaching and learning programs and academic research projects with appropriate safe use of workshop equipment. They oversee the development, scheduling and management of workshop activities to support faculty priorities. They provide one-on-one and group instruction.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate your suitability to the following key criteria in your application.

• Supervision of workshop technicians including the development of work schedules and allocation of tasks.
• Manage, motivate and engage workshop technical staff by establishing clear and achievable work goals to achieve optimal team performance.
• Commitment to safety, sustainability, and inclusive workshop practices in a higher educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital technologies and sustainable fabrication practices.
• Experience in providing expertise and training in analogue and digital fabrication environments.
• Proven ability to build relationships and positive rapport with a range of stakeholders.

Base Salary Range: $111,740 to $123,611 per annum (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis. The successful candidate will be expected to work full time onsite at the UTS Broadway Sydney campus.
