Job summary

Chandler Macleod Group is seeking a reliable Hire Assistant to join our busy Fairfield equipment hire operation. This role blends office duties with hands-on yard and delivery work, ensuring customers receive the right equipment on time and in good condition.

You will manage bookings, contracts, invoices and payments, coordinate deliveries, and support daily branch operations while staying safety-focused and organised in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in equipment hire, trades services, construction or customer service.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Confident handling bookings, administration and payments.
• Current driver's licence and ability to drive utes/trucks, subject to licensing.
• Hands-on attitude with yard operations and equipment movement.
• Organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Safety-focused approach and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer enquiries, hire bookings and equipment Returns.
• Prepare hire contracts, invoices and process payments.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries and collections.
• Drive company utes and trucks as required.
• Inspect equipment before and after hire.
• Advise customers on safe equipment use.
• Maintain positive customer relations and resolve enquiries.
• Liaise with workshop about damaged or faulty equipment.
• Support general yard operations and equipment movements.
• Ensure branch, vehicles and equipment are ready for daily operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workspace.
