Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is hiring an Emergency Relief Assessor for Morley, WA. This full-time, permanent role offers hybrid working arrangements and SCHADS Level 3 pay. You will engage with community members, assess needs, and connect them with practical relief and advocacy.

Based at Morley, you will maintain records, escalate risks when needed, and work with partners to ensure people get the right supports at the right time.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Community Services is essential.
  • Diploma or higher in Community Services is highly regarded.
  • Experience in the community services sector.
  • Experience supporting people facing hardship, vulnerability or trauma.
  • Ability to engage with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • WA Working with Children’s Check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, respectful space for people to share their experiences.
  • Conduct meaningful phone conversations to understand each person’s needs.
  • Provide emergency relief and practical support tailored to individual situations.
  • Make thoughtful referrals and advocate for access to necessary services.

Emergency Relief Assessor – Morley WA

About The Role

As an Emergency Relief Assessor, you will speak with community members over the phone, listen to their story, understand their needs and connect them with practical support that can make a real difference in their day-to-day lives. You will provide referrals and advocacy that help people access the right supports at the right time. You will maintain accurate client records, identify risks and escalate matters when required. You will work collaboratively with your team and local mission partners to ensure people feel supported from the moment they reach out.

This full-time, permanent role is based at our Morley site, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:45am–5:15pm. Flexible hybrid working arrangements to be agreed with the successful applicant. Pay is in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Connect people with the right services through thoughtful referrals and advocacy
  • Maintain clear, accurate records to ensure consistent, high-quality support
  • Notice emerging needs or gaps and share insights that help strengthen the service
  • Work closely with your team and local mission partners to ensure people feel supported from the moment they reach out

What You Will Bring

  • Certificate IV in Community Services as a minimum
  • Diploma or above in Community Services highly regarded
  • Experience in the community services sector
  • Experience supporting people experiencing hardship, vulnerability or trauma
  • Confidence engaging with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic and solution focused in challenging or fast paced situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to TSA values and person-centred practice
  • WA Working with Children’s Check
