Job summary

The Salvation Army Mackay Whitsunday Corps is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Worker to support emergency relief and community programs in Mackay, QLD. This role focuses on delivering inclusive services and coordinating the annual Christmas Cheer project, reporting to the Corps Officer.

You will work up to 15 hours per week in Mackay, contributing to mutual support, volunteer engagement, and partnerships with local organisations. Prior experience in community services is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community services or a related field.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and/or people experiencing hardship.
  • Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • National criminal history check required prior to commencement.
  • QLD Working with Children (Blue Card) check required prior to commencement.
  • Current QLD Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of community programs and activities, including the Drop-In Project and other initiatives that promote inclusion, wellbeing and community participation.
  • Provide compassionate and practical support to individuals and families experiencing hardship through emergency relief and material aid services.
  • Coordinate and deliver The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Cheer program, supporting client assistance, donations, resources and volunteer engagement.
  • Foster positive relationships with community members, volunteers, donors and local partner organisations to strengthen community impact.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all activities are delivered in line with The Salvation Army’s policies, procedures and compliance requirements.

About the role

As a Community Engagement Worker, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the Mackay community by supporting people experiencing hardship through emergency relief, community programs and engagement activities. You’ll also play a key role in delivering The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Cheer program.

Reporting to theCorps Officer, this is a6-month maximum term role, offering 15 hours per week, located in Mackay, QLD.
