Job summary

Downer is seeking an Electrical Project Manager to deliver electrical, communications and mechanical infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle—from design to commissioning. You will lead planning, execution and commissioning activities in a collaborative environment with Downer Energy & Utilities.

Reporting to the Electrical Regional Manager, you will drive safety, quality and environmental outcomes while managing subcontractors, budgets, and progress reporting for major infrastructure

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years of complex project management experience in construction, water sector.
• Experience in safety, quality and environmental management.
• Sub-contractor management and financial reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical, communications, and mechanical infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle.
• Ensure safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence with high-quality standards.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams across Downer Energy & Utilities.
• Support commissioning and handover processes for major infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Electrical Regional Manager, this exciting opportunity for a new Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical, communications, and mechanical infrastructure projects across the full project lifecycle from design and construction through to delivery and commissioning. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and project teams across Downer Energy & Utilities. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure projects within a dynamic and supportive environment focused on safety, performance, and operational excellence.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification specialised in Electrical
• Tertiary qualification in Project Management
• Leadership qualifications (Frontline Management or the like)
• Minimum 5 years of complex project management experience within the Construction sector, specifically Water
• Experience in Management of safety, quality and environmental issues
• Sub-contractor management
• Financial management and reporting, including budgeting and forecasting
• Production & Productivity reporting
• Proven team management and leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience driving & achieving results
