Job summary

Downer’s Energy & Utilities unit is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join the Power Systems team in Brisbane. You will coordinate construction activities, provide engineering support and manage schedules with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers on substation projects.

Reporting to the Program Manager, this 10 & 4 roster role offers hands-on delivery, mentoring of Site Engineers and a pathway to advance within a major ASX-listed company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering required.
• Four+ years' relevant experience.
• Demonstrated project engineering experience.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating construction activities.
• Scheduling, financial management, forecasting and reporting.
• Experience with change management and contract administration.
• Proven track record of delivering quality project outcomes.
• Strong organizational, analytical and time-management skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Clear communication and ability to transfer technical knowledge.
• Ability to work under pressure in a changing project environment.
• Transmission industry experience highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site supervisors, self-perform crews and subcontractors across design, scope, program, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Develop detailed construction methodologies, work methods, sketches, crane lift plans and temporary works requirements.
• Reviewing designs for constructability, compliance and delivery efficiency.
• Provide technical advice and resolving day-to-day engineering and construction challenges.
• Managing project schedules, work breakdown structures, cost forecasts, quantity take-offs and progress reporting.
• Supporting contract administration, including variations, extensions of time, claims, procurement scopes and project closeout.
• Implementing project quality systems, maintaining as-built drawings, issuing RFIs and coordinating lot conformance activities.
• Identifying commercial risks, delivery opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Building effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and the wider project team.
• Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers to strengthen technical capability and understanding of project deliverables.
• Actively supporting Downer's Zero Harm culture through effective risk management, safety leadership and compliance activities

The Opportunity

Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Power Systems team, supporting the successful delivery of substation projects. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide engineering support and schedule management while working closely with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers. What we are looking for

• A strong track record of driving quality outcomes in project delivery.
