Job summary

Downer Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Energy & Utilities Water team in Fortitude Valley, QLD. You will support design, delivery and coordination across multiple infrastructure projects, working with design, project and senior engineers to drive on-time outcomes.

You will review drawings, manage subcontractors, and maintain rigorous documentation and budgeting processes to ensure quality and compliance throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level electrical engineering education is required.
• Experience in project engineering within the water sector.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating project components.
• Ability to review and develop construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong record-keeping and project documentation control.
• Financial management skills including budgeting and reporting.
• Quality assurance and quality control experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the successful delivery of assigned discipline or project component.
• Collaborate with Design Managers, Project Managers and Senior Project Engineers.
• Assist across the water infrastructure projects from design to delivery.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

The Opportunity

As part of a newly awarded project within our Energy and Utilities Water business, we are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer will work closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, and other project team members to support the successful delivery of their assigned discipline or project component. This role plays a key part in supporting the engineering and delivery effort across a wide range of infrastructure projects within the Water sector.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering at Bachelor
• Over two years of project engineering experience within industrial specifically in the Water industry
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors, including coordination, performance oversight, and compliance
• Strong competency in reviewing and developing construction drawings and technical documentation
• Demonstrated accuracy in record keeping and project documentation control
• Financial management capability, including budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting
• Experience in quality assurance and quality control
