Job summary

Powercor is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to deliver engineering design across distribution, sub-transmission and substations, including minor surveys and asset recording within our network. You will ensure compliance with policies and industry standards while mentoring design staff.

The role involves cost estimation, design validation, and contributing to process improvements, with a focus on safety and efficient asset management in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) is required.
• Progress towards professional registration (NER/RPEng) is expected.
• Understanding of Distribution Design principles is essential.
• Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD and electrical networks is required.
• Safety in Design practices and construction methods familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective engineering design for distribution, sub-transmission and substations to approved standards.
• Verify designs produced by others against standards and safety guidelines.
• Develop design standards and policy in line with regulatory requirements.
• Apply drafting techniques to produce plans for substations and distribution systems.
• Prepare cost and resource estimates for design components of projects.
• Support and implement new or modified processes and systems.
• Mentor design personnel in Design and Design management.
• Consider commercial implications to maximize project profitability.
