Royal Hotel is seeking a Duty Manager to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based at our venue in Randwick, NSW 2031, and offers the opportunity to take on a leadership position during your scheduled shifts. As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all operations during your shift, ensuring excellent guest experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of service and safety. This is a key position that directly impacts the success of our hotel and the satisfaction of our guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations during your shift, ensuring smooth service delivery
• Manage and supervise staff on duty, providing clear direction and support to ensure high performance standards
• Handle guest enquiries, complaints and concerns professionally and promptly, resolving issues to ensure guest satisfaction
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and hygiene regulations throughout your shift
• Monitor cash handling procedures and reconciliation, ensuring financial accuracy and security
• Conduct opening and closing procedures as required, including security checks and facility inspections
• Liaise with management regarding operational matters, incidents and guest feedback
• Maintain standards of service quality and appearance throughout the venue
• Respond to emergencies and unexpected situations with professionalism and quick decision-making

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a hospitality management role, preferably in a hotel, bar or restaurant environment
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a professional approach to guest interactions
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and hospitality regulations
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and venue management software is advantageous
• Relevant hospitality qualifications or training (such as RSA or hospitality management certification) are preferred
• Flexibility to work varying shift patterns, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
