Job summary

A Class Metal Products Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Draftsperson/Designer to join our Caringbah team. The role involves converting client requirements into practical drawings for fabrication, including site measurements and customer approvals.

The position can be part-time or full-time, with responsibilities spanning from site measures to laser cutting files and shop drawings, in a range of custom architectural and structural metalwork projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar drafting or design role.
• Experience within metal fabrication, architectural metalwork & sheet metal.
• Ability to translate drawings into cutting, folding, welding and fabrication processes.
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably Fusion 360 or Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Attending site to measure and assess project requirements.
• Liaising with customers, builders, architects and internal team to confirm details.
• Interpreting client briefs, site measurements and project specifications.
• Preparing design drawings, customer approval drawings and 3D models.
• Converting approved designs into accurate shop drawings for fabrication.
• Producing laser cutting, folding and manufacturing drawings.
• Detailing components such as benchtops, window shrouds and facade elements.
• Updating drawings based on feedback or changes.

Draftsperson / Designer - Architectural Metalwork with Fusion 360 experience preferred.

A Class Metals is seeking an experienced Draftsperson / Designer to join our team in Caringbah, NSW on a part-time or full-time basis with experience in a similar fabrication shop.

This role would suit someone with strong practical drafting skills, a good understanding of fabrication, and the ability to take a project from site measure and customer approval drawings through to laser cutting, fabrication and installation-ready shop drawings.

You will be working across a variety of custom architectural and structural metalwork projects, including Stainless Steel benchtops, window shrouds, facade detailing and other various products.

About the role

As part of our drafting and fabrication team, you will be responsible for producing accurate design, approval and manufacturing drawings to support the fabrication of high-quality custom metalwork.

You will play an important role in translating client requirements, site conditions and approved concepts into clear, practical drawings that can be used by our workshop, laser cutters, fabricators and installers.

What you'll be doing

• Attending site to measure and assess project requirements
• Liaising with customers, builders, architects and the internal team to confirm details
• Interpreting client briefs, site measurements, architectural plans and project specifications
• Preparing design drawings, customer approval drawings and 3D models
• Converting approved designs into accurate shop drawings for fabrication
• Producing laser cutting, folding and manufacturing drawings
• Detailing components such as benchtops, window shrouds, facade elements, cladding, flashings and custom metalwork
• Reviewing drawings to ensure they are practical, buildable and suitable for fabrication
• Working closely with the workshop team to resolve design or fabrication issues
• Updating and revising drawings based on customer feedback, site conditions or project changes
• Ensuring all drawings meet required quality, safety and industry standards

What we're looking for

• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. Please do not apply if you do not meet this requirement

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar drafting or design role
• Experience within metal fabrication, architectural metalwork & sheet metal
• Previous fabrication, trade or workshop experience would be a strong advantage
• Ability to understand how drawings translate into cutting, folding, welding, fabrication and installation
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably Fusion 360, Inventor or similar
• Ability to prepare accurate shop drawings, fabrication drawings and laser cutting files
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clear, accurate documentation
• Ability to manage multiple jobs and work to deadlines
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with customers, builders and internal team members
• Practical problem‑solving ability and a hands‑on approach
• Current driver's licence preferred for site measures and customer visits
