Primesteel Fabrications – Burleigh Heads QLD is seeking an experienced Engineering Draftsperson with a strong fabrication background to join our Gold Coast team. The role focuses on producing fabrication, shop and installation drawings using Solidworks, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, with site measurements and coordination with fabrication crews.

You will have a degree in industrial or structural engineering and at least 3 years of drafting experience in metalwork.

Qualifications

• Degree in industrial or structural engineering is required.
• Minimum 3 years of drafting experience in fabrication.
• Strong proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD for 2D/3D drawings.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and site measurements.

Responsibilities

• Produce fabrication, shop, and installation drawings using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
• Site measurement and scheduling to fit fabrication and installation timelines.
• Prepare and issue drawings to departments and clients with accuracy.
• Manage procurement procedures to support economical fabrication.
• Collaborate with fabrication team and project managers.

Engineering Draftsperson with Fabrication Experience

Primesteel Fabrications – Burleigh Heads QLD

Prime Steel Fabrications is a leading Commercial Fabrication Company based on the Gold Coast who has been operating for over 25 years. Our company undertakes projects right across the Gold Coast and Brisbane through to Northern NSW regions within the commercial steel fabrication industry.

We require a full-time experienced steel/metalwork draftsperson with a degree in industrial or structural engineering with a very strong Fabrication background.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of the role include:

Accurately use Solidworks, Solidworks elecrial, solidworks animation, AutoCAD, Sketchup, to design and complete fabrication drawings, shop drawings and installation drawings.

Ability to accurately site measure projects

Schedule shop details to fit in with fabrications and site installation schedules

Ensure all drawings are accurately completed and issued to relevant departments and clients

Manage procurement procedures to ensure accurate and economical for company

Manage project claims, variations, and daily updates of drawings and client contract documentation

The successful candidate will have:

A strong understanding of Fabrication techniques.

A degree in industrial or structural engineering preferable.

The ability to introduce industrial engineering concepts to integrate within the design and engineering of environmental systems fabricated and designed by Prime Steel.

Live locally (no remote or hybrid)

3 years experience + using Solidworks, Solidworks elecrial, solidworks animation, AutoCAD, Sketchup

Work closely with Fabrication Team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience with drafting steel and metal works in 2d and 3d

Experience in reading and interpreting commercial architectural drawings

High attention to detail with a "Can Do" attitude

A strong understanding and experience in the commercial construction industry

Experience with Microsoft office applications

Understanding of construction and integration of trades during the project

Exposure to and competent use of QLD Building Standards and regulations

The ability to communicate professionally, prioritise and meet deadlines

Problem solving skills through previous experience
