Job summary

Unidex Healthcare in Queensland seeks a Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with physical, intellectual, neurological and psychosocial disabilities. Qualifications

• Full Australian working rights.
• Availability for varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and overnights.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals living with a range of physical, intellectual, neurological and psychosocial disabilities.

Working within participants' homes and the community, you will play a vital role in promoting independence, building confidence and supporting individuals to achieve the goals outlined within their care plans. Depending on participant needs, your role may include personal care, domestic assistance, community access, skill development, medication assistance and supporting individuals with complex care requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred support to participants with complex physical disabilities, neurological conditions and acquired injuries, in accordance with individual support plans and clinical directions.
• Provide personal care and high-intensity daily personal activities, including manual handling, transfers, mobility assistance, medication assistance and delegated health supports, in line with your training and organisational policies.
• Support participants to achieve their individual goals by promoting independence, facilitating community access, assisting with daily living activities and encouraging meaningful participation in home and community life.
• Accurately complete progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation at the completion of every shift, while promptly reporting any changes in participant health, wellbeing or support needs.
• Work collaboratively with participants, families, Registered Nurses, Allied Health professionals, Support Coordinators and multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
• Maintain compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, Work Health and Safety requirements, infection prevention and control procedures, and all Unidex Healthcare policies and clinical governance frameworks.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or equivalent required.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Current Australian Driver License and reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle required.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
• Full Australian working rights.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, public holidays and overnight shifts where required.
• Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services, healthcare or a related field
• Experience supporting participants with spinal cord injury (SCI), acquired brain injury (ABI), traumatic brain injury (TBI), neurological conditions or complex physical disabilities.
• Experience providing high-intensity daily personal activities, including manual handling, hoisting, bowel care, catheter care, PEG feeding, medication assistance and other delegated health supports.
• Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
• Confidence using a mobile app to complete progress notes and incident reporting through our care management system.
• Strong communication, time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
