Opal HealthCare’s Dubbo Homestead Care Community is seeking a motivated Sous Chef to lead nutritious, home-style meals for residents. Working daytime hours alongside the Head Chef, you’ll create menus, supervise kitchen operations and contribute to a warm, safe dining environment.

This permanent part-time role offers stability, weekend penalty rates, a 12% superannuation, ongoing training, scholarships for study, and clear career progression within a supportive team dedicated to resident

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef or Chef de Partie or similar role
• Passion for creating exceptional food and dining experiences
• Strong culinary, organisational, and time management skills
• Ability to lead, coach, and support team members
• Understanding of food safety, infection control, and workplace safety practices
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to complete pre-employment medical, Police Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals that meet resident preferences and dietary requirements
• Support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and catering service
• Assist with menu planning, meal presentation and special dining experiences
• Lead and support kitchen team members in the absence of the Head Chef
• Maintain food safety, infection control, and workplace safety standards
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food wastage
• Support catering for events, celebrations, and special occasions
• Contribute to a positive team culture and exceptional resident dining experience.
