Job summary

Opal HealthCare's Kardinia Parkside Care Community in Geelong is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join the hospitality team. You will work with the Head Chef to lead kitchen operations, prepare nutritious meals and deliver outstanding dining experiences for residents.

You will supervise kitchen staff, assist with menu planning, maintain high food-safety standards, and support catering for events. A supportive team culture and opportunities for development are offered.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie.
• Ability to lead, coach and support kitchen team members.
• Strong culinary, organisational and time management skills.
• Understanding of food safety and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals that meet resident preferences and dietary requirements.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and catering service.
• Assist with menu planning, meal presentation and special dining experiences.
• Lead and support kitchen team members in the absence of the Head Chef.
• Maintain food safety, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food wastage.
• Support catering for events, celebrations, and special occasions.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and exceptional resident dining experiences.
