Job summary

NEXTDC is expanding its hyperscale data centre team in West Footscray, Melbourne. We are seeking a trades or technical individual with a mechanical or electrical background to join as a Data Centre Technician in a 24/7 facilities team.

Training will cover mechanical systems, electrical distribution, cabling, monitoring, and fire protection to support mission-critical operations. The role requires hands-on site work, rotating shifts 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am, travel between sites as needed, and a

Qualifications

Engineering or trade background in mechanical/electrical fields.
Experience with mechanical/HVAC and electrical building services is highly regarded.
Basic data centre knowledge and cabling is desirable.
Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

Assist with vendor management for maintenance of core mechanical and electrical systems.
Support 24/7 critical operations through monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely incident escalation.
Attend to Remote Hands requests such as Rack Power ups.
Collaborate with internal teams and customers to deliver seamless operations and support installations.
Ensure all visitors and contractors adhere to NEXTDC facility rules.
Undertaking regular manual handling duties as required.
