Job summary

NEXTDC is seeking a Trades or Technical individual for a Data Centre Technician role in Port Melbourne. You will join the facilities team, operating on a 24/7 roster, with training provided across cooling, electrical, cabling, building monitoring and fire systems.

Role focuses on practical maintenance and customer service within a data centre environment, with occasional travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication with a can-do attitude.
• Basic knowledge of data centres, data cabling and cable management.
• Desire to learn about telecommunications and how things work.
• Interest in fixing and solving problems.
• TAFE Cert in Telecommunications desirable.
• Trade Certs (Electrician/HVAC Technician) desirable.
• Australian Citizenship required (security clearance).

Responsibilities

• Delivery of cabling needs, electrical and data to customer racks.
• Attend to Remote Hands requests.
• Assist with vendor management for core electrical and mechanical systems.
• Identify and resolve facility problems promptly.
• Monitor building management systems 24/7 and escalate issues.
• Ensure visitors and contractors adhere to facility rules.
• Manual handling.
