Job summary

Vocus Navy is seeking a Data Centre Operator to join our NSW team. The role requires the ability to work 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency response and to support facility operations.

You will provide remote hands support, monitor infrastructure, manage access control and assist with maintenance, documentation, and customer tours. Strong knowledge of data communications and IT security is essential.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of data communications services and systems.
• Previous Data Centre operations experience is highly regarded with an understanding of data communications services and systems.
• Knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems and principles.
• Proficient in Network protocols such as TCP/IP and Ethernet.
• Demonstrates knowledge of industry IT compliance standards, particularly ISO27001.
• Understanding of IT security controls.
• Network installation and configuration knowledge.
• Knowledge of network hardware - switches, routers and cabling.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service including timely communication to clients regarding facility operational matters, remote hands, remote support and facility-related support.
• Process customer request tickets.
• Monitor facility infrastructure, access control and security.
• Provide remote assistance to other Vocus Data Centres.
• Respond to facilities issues as they arise.
• Liaise with Telcos and vendors to deliver cable and infrastructure deployments.
• Perform cross-connect installs and connections.
• Assist in regular maintenance activities with contractors.
• Facilitate tours of the facility for potential and existing customers.
• Assist in signing customers in and out of the site.
