Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is hiring a junior cook to join our Sydney kitchen team. You will prepare high-quality dishes for the restaurant, bar, room service and banquets, following standard recipes and HACCP hygiene practices to ensure a great guest experience.

Ideal candidates have 6–12 months in a commercial kitchen and a Commercial Cookery/Culinary Arts qualification, are friendly, detail‑oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6-12 months experience in a commercial kitchen
• Qualifications in Commercial Cookery/Culinary Arts from a registered training provider
• Be a friendly face and assist guests
• Literate with reading, writing and basic math
• Team player with collaborative approach
• Strong attention to detail and time management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain grooming and hygiene standards
• Willingness to work a 7-day rotating roster and comply with Australia work requirements

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce high-quality food according to standard recipes
• Work with Front of House to deliver guest experience including serving meals
• Cater for restaurant, bar, room service and banquets
• Identify and report hazards and assist with risk controls
• Comply with HACCP and WHS policies and record-keeping
• Support team to deliver high guest satisfaction
• Receive goods and manage invoices for accounting
• Perform ad hoc duties as required by business needs
