This is an influential operational leadership role focused on shaping the systems, partnerships and conditions that influence health, wellbeing and equity across our community. Leading a team of six Community Strengthening Officers, you will champion a whole-of-Council approach to health equity, prevention, inclusion and wellbeing, using Council’s influence and relationships to strengthen service systems, build capacity, support coordinated responses and drive practical systems change. You will lead the team’s contribution to the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, Disability Action Plan, Connected Communities Strategy and other priorities within Council’s Integrated Planning Framework. You will lead a team that guides Council’s disability planning and projects, providing specialist advice and ensuring legislative responsibilities are met. Across a diverse portfolio, you will build partnerships, strengthen prevention and early intervention, and support coordinated action that addresses the social and structural factors contributing to health inequity.
As part of the Community Strengthening Department, you will lead a diverse and agile portfolio spanning disability, gender equity, prevention of violence against women, homelessness and housing, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, gambling harm minimisation, financial vulnerability, food insecurity, healthy eating, and community participation and leadership.
