Job summary

Melton City Council is offering a Full Time Fixed Term parental leave backfill in the Wellness & Engagement unit for a Team Leader Social Connections. The role leads the Social Connections team to deliver CHSP, HACC PYP, and Community Transport services during a period of change.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership, mentor staff, and ensure services are delivered safely and responsively through to 30 June 2027, with a focus on people-centered service delivery and cross-team

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or other relevant Human Services/Community Services discipline with several years’ relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with extensive experience working in a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in service and program management within the aged and disability services industry, specifically those under Commonwealth and State funded program requirements.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring staff to work positively, proactively and collaboratively in delivering high quality, flexible and innovative programs and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues that impact on older people, people with disabilities and their carers, and experience in overseeing related programs and services.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and support the Social Connections team through a period of significant organisational and service change.
  • Ensure services continue to be delivered safely, consistently and responsively through to 30 June 2027.
  • Manage the ongoing development and delivery of CHSP, HACC PYP, and Community Transport programs and services to meet the needs of the community, including identifying and planning for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor compliance and regulations set by the Commonwealth and State Governments.
  • Monitor and ensure that all funding compliances associated with the delivery of the service are maintained. This includes service standards and targets, data collection and reporting requirements are fully compliant.
  • Facilitate or participate in relevant networks and working groups with other organisations and service providers to share information and develop strategies and priorities for responding to the needs of older people and people with disabilities.

Band 7 - Salary Range $109,825.88 to $122,758.21 per annum + 12% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

An exciting leadership opportunity is available within Council’s Community Care & Active Living department, in the Wellness & Engagement business unit, for a Team Leader Social Connections.

This parental leave backfill, from 2 November 2026 to 30 June 2027, offers an experienced community services leader the opportunity to provide strong, compassionate leadership to the Social Connections team and support the people who rely on our services and programs as they navigate an important period of change.

You will need to balance the ongoing delivery of high-quality services with the very human impact of significant change. You will work closely with the Social Connections team and the people who rely on our services and programs, providing clear communication, reassurance, advocacy and support as they navigate what the changes may mean for them.

Reporting to the Wellness & Engagement Coordinator, you will lead the Social Connections team in the delivery of CHSP, Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP) funded services and Community Transport.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership while creating an environment where staff feel supported, informed and empowered to continue delivering high-quality services and programs throughout the transition.

Key Responsibilities
