Job summary

Office of Ash Ambihaipahar MP in NSW is seeking a full-time Constituent Services Officer to lead casework, coordinate part-time staff, and manage the constituent database for the Member’s engagement with the community.

The role requires strong interpersonal and written communication, organisational ability and knowledge of social security systems and parliamentary processes. Additional languages are desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond to constituent enquiries and prepare clear, professional correspondence.
• Confidence managing high-conflict conversations with empathy and sound judgement.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Well-developed IT skills, including data entry and database management.
• Understanding of Australia’s social security system and parliamentary processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and support senior staff.
• Commitment to the values of the Australian Labor Party.
• Experience in social work or related field; knowledge of Barton’s communities; additional languages are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to constituent enquiries and prepare correspondence.
• Coordinate the daily tasks and workflow of part-time staff.
• Manage casework relating to Centrelink, immigration, NDIS, housing and other issues.
• Enter and maintain accurate information in the constituent relationship management system.
• Draft basic email updates for local community groups and constituents.
• Maintain local stakeholder lists and community groups.
• Maintain the office’s local achievements register.
• Lead engagement with Caucus Liaison Officers.
• Plan constituent outreach events and advisory groups.
• Oversee grant program applications and acquittals.
