Job summary

City of Playford is seeking a friendly and reliable Community Service Officer for the John McVeity Centre to deliver exceptional customer service and support bookings, events and canteen operations.

You will work across weeknights and weekends in a vibrant community hub, assisting with payments, space setup and general enquiries while contributing to a welcoming environment for patrons and hirers.

Qualifications

• Experience providing a high level of customer service in retail or community centre environment.
• Cash handling experience, including EFTPOS, cash and online transactions.
• Experience working in a community canteen or kiosk environment, including dispensing food and beverages.
• Experience in retail sales and confidence using relevant ICT and booking systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• The ability to work productively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Sound professional judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Retail operations experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and responsive customer service to JMC customers, hirers and community groups.
• Support front reception duties, venue bookings and customer enquiries.
• Operate the JMC canteen, including preparing and dispensing food and beverages and barista operation.
• Process and reconcile cash and EFT transactions.
• Assist hirers with the set up and pack down of spaces and ensure hire agreements are followed.
• Support a range of sport and recreation activities.
• Respond to customer enquiries, complaints and requests using sound judgement.
• Provide first aid to patrons when required.
