Job summary

InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef on Hayman Island in the Whitsundays is seeking a part-time Commis Chef to work across five distinct venues. You’ll help prepare gourmet recipes spanning Mediterranean, Modern Australian, Pan-Asian, seafood and Cali-Mex cuisines, contributing to island experiences for guests and colleagues.

Ideal candidates are passionate, team-oriented and committed to exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Certificate III and/or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• 0Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
• Exposure to Italian/Mediterranean, Asian, Modern Australian, Breakfast and/or Banquet cuisines is desirable.
• Eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative kitchen team.

You will be involved in the preparation of gourmet recipes in exciting cuisines including Mediterranean, Modern Australian, Pan-Asian, Seafood and Cali-Mex. Our collection of unique dining options provides our guests with extraordinary island experiences of which you will play an integral part.

To be successful in this part‑time role, you’ll have:

• Passionate, enthusiastic and professional team player with a genuine interest in building a culinary career.
• Committed to delivering exceptional service and exceeding guest expectations.
• A Certificate III and/or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
• Exposure to Italian/Mediterranean, Asian, Modern Australian, Breakfast and/or Banquet cuisine is desirable but not essential.
• Eager to learn, develop new skills and contribute positively to a collaborative kitchen team.
