Job summary

Delaware North Australia is hiring a part-time Commis Chef at the Blacktown Exercise and Technology Hub (BEST) in New South Wales. You will work with senior chefs to create dishes, follow recipes, and ensure top quality presentation in a high-volume kitchen.

We seek candidates with a Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, and a passion for food. Onboarding may include training and flexible shifts to fit your lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Commis Chef is required.
• Prefer proven experience in a la carte restaurant or function service.
• Solid background in kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation and adhere to guidelines.
• Execute food preparation with focus on presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance and monitor temperature/quality checks.

What you will do?

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination

More about you

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred
• Solid background in kitchen operations
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding
• A passion for food and creative flair
• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs
