Job summary

Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets, part of InterContinental Hotels Group, is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to develop their culinary career using local seasonal produce and to help deliver exceptional food and service standards in a dynamic team environment.

You will own your workstation, keep supplies and equipment in order, and maintain cleanliness to meet local hygiene laws while assisting with kitchen duties as needed. This is an on-site role at Adelaide Central Market.

Qualifications

• Commercial Cookery qualification and 1–2 years of culinary experience.
• Understanding of HACCP and compliance with local food-handling laws.
• Must hold a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Great communication; warm, welcoming and approachable.
• Strength to lift up to 23 kg with bending/kneeling.
• Good reading, writing and basic maths abilities.
• Flexible to rotate roster including weekends, nights and public holidays.
• Eligible to work in Australia without restrictions.

We're looking for a passionate Commis Chef who is eager to develop their culinary career, work with local seasonal produce, and help deliver exceptional food and service standards in a dynamic team environment.

A little taste of your day‑to‑day:

• Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
• Making every single meal a feast for the eyes and a treat for the tastebuds
• Taking ownership of your workstation – keeping on top of supplies, equipment and waste
• Being cleaner than clean to meet or exceed local cleanliness and hygiene laws
• Helping with washing up and other kitchen duties where needed
• Taking on other ad‑hoc duties like a true team player

You will also have:

• Commercial Cookery qualification and 1-2 years of previous culinary experience
