Job summary

Appreciating Talent is seeking a Commercial Strategy and Data Lead to help shape a multi-billion dollar retail transformation. You will turn complex data into insights influencing investment decisions, commercial strategy and long-term revenue growth.

The role combines retail commercial acumen with advanced data analytics and modelling to assess business cases, scenarios and drive valuable commercial outcomes across Commercial, Property, Finance and Design.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial analysis, consulting, strategy or financial modelling within retail, real estate, property development or similar complex environments.
• Strong understanding of retail commercial drivers including customer behaviour, product mix, space utilisation, conversion, spend and revenue performance.
• Experience analysing property, spatial or operational requirements and assessing their commercial implications.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI, alongside strong data extraction (SQL, Python, etc), modelling and scenario analysis capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly to senior audiences.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to challenge assumptions and deliver evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Analyse retail performance, customer behaviour, space utilisation, trading density and revenue drivers to identify commercial opportunities.
• Develop and maintain financial models, commercial baselines and scenario analysis to assess alternative design, space allocation and operating options.
• Evaluate property utilisation, tenant requirements, relocation impacts and commercial implications to support future planning and development decisions.
• Integrate complex datasets, validating assumptions and identifying risks, gaps and opportunities.
• Translate detailed analysis into clear recommendations, visualisations and presentations for senior executives and decision-makers.
• Partner with stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Property, Operations and Design to drive commercially sound outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Strategy and Data Leadto join a high-profile business undergoing a significant retail transformation.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major, multi billion dollar program, helping shape future retail and commercial opportunities.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Property, Finance and Design, you will turn complex data into meaningful insights that influence investment decisions, commercial strategy and long term revenue growth.

You will combine strong retail commercial acumen with advanced data analystics and modelling skills to assess business cases, evaluate alternative scenarios and influence decisions that will have a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse retail performance, customer behaviour, space utilisation, trading density and revenue drivers to identify commercial opportunities.
• Develop and maintain financial models, commercial baselines and scenario analysis to assess alternative design, space allocation and operating options.

About You

You are commercially astute and enjoy getting into the detail of complex data while maintaining a strong understanding of the broader business implications.

You can confidently translate analysis into practical recommendations and influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in commercial analysis, consulting, strategy or financial modelling within a retail, real estate, property development or similarly complex environment.
• Strong understanding of retail commercial drivers, including customer behaviour, product mix, space utilisation, conversion, spend and revenue performance.
• Experience analysing property, spatial or operational requirements and assessing their commercial implications.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI, alongside strong data extraction (SQL, Python, etc), modelling and scenario analysis capabilities.

Experience in large scale retail, QSR or commercial property environments will be highly regarded.
