Job summary

RACQ is seeking a Cloud Principal to lead the evolution of our cloud platforms in Queensland. You will set strategic direction, develop reusable services, and drive automation, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code across engineering, architecture, delivery and operations.

You will coach teams, enhance security and resilience, and lead cloud governance and FinOps initiatives while delivering secure, scalable and cost-effective platforms for RACQ’s digital services.

• Strong multi-cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Automation, IaC, DevOps and CI/CD expertise.
• Coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Availability for on-call and out-of-hours support.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud strategy, roadmaps, standards and practices.
• Develop reusable cloud services, deployment frameworks, automation and self-service capabilities.
• Drive platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Improve developer experience, delivery speed, service reliability and operational efficiency.
• Strengthen cloud governance, security, risk, compliance and cost governance.
• Lead FinOps, cloud financial management, cost optimisation, forecasting and cost governance.
• Establish service health measures, reporting, dashboards and metrics to guide investment and improvement.
• Provide technical leadership for cloud transformation, modernisation, architecture reviews and key technology decisions.
• Coach teams and build cloud capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing and communities of practice.

Job description

As a Cloud Principal, you’ll be the technical authority for our cloud platforms. You’ll set strategic direction, build reusable capabilities and help teams deliver faster through automation, self-service and modern engineering practices.

About the role

You’ll lead the evolution of RACQ’s cloud platforms, ensuring services are secure, resilient, scalable, governed and cost-effective. You’ll combine strategic leadership with practical coaching to build cloud capability across engineering, architecture, delivery and operational teams.

About you

You’re an experienced cloud professional who combines deep technical capability with strategic thinking and a collaborative leadership style. You can influence without direct authority, simplify complex challenges and deliver secure, practical and sustainable outcomes.

• Demonstrated expertise designing and operating enterprise cloud platforms.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, networking, identity, security and resilience.
• Experience with automation, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of platform engineering and developer experience.
• Experience with cloud migration, modernisation, service roadmaps, health metrics and operational reporting.
• Strong coaching, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Azure Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer certifications, or equivalent expertise.
• Availability to participate in on-call and out-of-hours support.
