Job summary

Cloudland is seeking an experienced Closing Duty Manager to oversee end‑of‑day operations at Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. You will direct closing procedures, manage staff, reconcile cash, ensure security, and uphold service standards in a busy hospitality venue.

As the senior on duty during closing hours, you will ensure health and safety compliance, staff welfare, and guest satisfaction while safeguarding assets and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for late nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven experience as a Duty Manager or similar supervisory role within hospitality venues, bars, restaurants or hotels.
• Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures and financial reconciliation.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all closing procedures, including cash reconciliation, till counts and secure banking of revenue.
• Oversee the cleaning and sanitisation to maintain health and safety standards.
• Conduct final security checks of the building and ensure all areas are secure before departure.
• Manage and motivate closing shift staff and ensure tasks are completed to standard.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Monitor stock levels and report discrepancies to management.
• Maintain closing reports and communicate incidents to the management team.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety regulations.
• Manage guest departures and maintain a safe, welcoming atmosphere during service.
• Support staff wellbeing and provide guidance on operations.

We are seeking an experienced Closing Duty Manager to join our dynamic team in Fortitude Valley. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient closure of our venue at the end of each operating day. As the senior manager on duty during closing hours, you will ensure all staff follow proper procedures, maintain our high standards of service and hospitality, and safeguard our premises and assets. This role is pivotal in maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring our guests leave with unforgettable experiences.

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years Proven experience as a Duty Manager or similar supervisory role within hospitality venues, bars, restaurants or hotels
• Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures, point-of-sale systems and financial reconciliation
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams
• Comprehensive understanding of health, safety and licensing requirements in the hospitality industry
• Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism
• Meticulous attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during closing hours
• Physical capability to manage the demands of closing procedures, including standing for extended periods
• Current understanding of responsible service of alcohol practices
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including late nights and weekends
• Current RMLV and approved managers licence
• Gaming experience is desirable
