Job summary

City of Ballarat is seeking a Civic Events Officer to lead planning, delivery and review of civic recognitions and events. Ensure alignment with policies and priorities, coordinate openings, launches and Citizenship Ceremonies in partnership with state and federal offices.

You will promote a professional image, work with internal teams and dignitaries, manage competing priorities, and contribute to a high-performing Civic Support team while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in event management or a related field, or substantial experience in events coordination roles.
• Demonstrated planning, coordination, and delivery of events with strong understanding of event management principles.
• Ability to manage confidential, complex, and politically sensitive matters in a customer-focused environment.
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and public relations skills with stakeholders in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning and delivery of civic events and Citizenship Ceremonies.
• Coordinate openings, launches, media opportunities, and ribbon-cutting events with state and federal partners.
• Promote a positive image of the Civic Support team and maintain high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
• Work with internal teams and dignitaries to ensure events reflect Council’s standards and priorities.
