Job summary

Bathurst Early Learning Centre in Robin Hill NSW is seeking a cook to support meals for children aged 0–6. You will follow a set menu, prepare meals in bulk, manage stock and assist with budget control.

You will ensure compliance with food safety standards, cater for allergies, and participate in educational activities around healthy eating, collaborating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with cooking in a childcare or educational setting preferred.
• Ability to follow a fixed meal plan and adjust for dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Cook meals for children 0–6 years following a set menu.
• Prepare meals in bulk, manage stocks and contribute to budget control.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Cater for allergies and dietary requirements; implement healthy eating education.
• Engage with children, families and staff to promote healthy eating and food education.

Bathurst ELCis a caring environment catering to children aged 0 – 6 years of age. We have a close team of supportivestaff who work together to make the day fun and inspiring.

Essential Criteria for Successful Applicants:

• Efficient and capable of cooking with the ability to follow a set menu.
• Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control.
• Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.
• Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies and specific dietary requirements.
• Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events.
• Possess a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
• Help nourish the children in our care with your culinary expertise as well as any input you may have to contribute towards growing our own fresh produce.
• Be a positive person who will develop strong relationships with families, children, colleagues and the community.
• Have a current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Have a current First Aid Certificate including CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training (or willing to obtain).
• Experience or education within an early childhood setting will be highly regarded.
