Job summary

Imagine Education Group is seeking an experienced cook for a premium early learning centre in Dubbo, NSW. You will prepare and present nutritious meals for children aged 4 months to 6 years, including special dietary options, while following nutrition guidelines and budgets.

You’ll handle menu planning, maintain a clean kitchen to Food and Council Authority standards, and provide barista service to families.

Qualifications

• 12 months experience as a cook or chef in an educational setting or aged care.
• Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management qualification (Cert III level or higher).
• WWCC current or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures and WHS rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present nutritious foods for children aged 4 months to 6 years.
• Engage in menu planning according to nutrition policy and dietary needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen in line with regulatory requirements.
• Provide barista service to families (on-the-job training available).
• Work with families, colleagues and children in a friendly, organised manner.

Job description

Imagine Childcare and Preschool Blueridge Park is a 125 place premium early learning centre located in Dubbo New South Wales. We are seeking an experienced cook who is passionate about preparing fresh and wholesome meals for children in our purpose built and fully equipped kitchen.

The role

You will be preparing, cooking and presenting a wide variety of nutritious foods on time that are suitable for children aged 4monthsto 6 years for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, including the preparation of purees and special dietary and cultural meals

You will engage in menu planning, in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines, including catering for children with allergy, intolerance and religious requirements;

You will working in line with budgets and local suppliers

You will maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements

You will be a reliable, positive and a well organised person

You will have excellent time management skills and be confident in managing a kitchen

You will provide a barista service to families (on the job training will be provided if necessary)

You will enjoy working with families, colleagues and children

A little about you

12 months experience as a cook or chef in an educational (school or early childhood) or aged care setting (highly regarded).

Relevant Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management qualification (at least Cert III or higher)

Current WWCC or willingness to obtain

Ability to follow directions, policies and procedures.

Ability to work autonomously and have a strong Work Health and Safety focus.

A flexible approach and attitude with excellent communication skills.
