Job summary

Cessnock ELC is seeking two Centre Cooks to support our new Centre with nutritious meals for children in a dynamic early education setting. This part-time role is Monday to Friday, approximately 25 hours per week, with opportunities to contribute to lessons and family events.

Ideal candidates will have food safety expertise, bulk meal prep experience, and a positive, collaborative attitude. A current WWCC and Food Safety Supervisor certification enhance your application.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking to a set menu with accuracy and consistency.
• Able to prepare meals in bulk while managing stock effectively.
• Compliant with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Capable of accommodating allergies and dietary requirements.
• Willing to engage with children during lessons and family events.
• Professional and enthusiastic attitude with a team focus.

Responsibilities

• Cook and portion meals for children according to the menu.

If you love cooking, interacting with children and can contribute to providing a culture of excellence towards education, care and supervision of children then this is the job for you! We are currently recruiting 2x Centre Cooks for our Cessnock and Maitland sites.

This Job opportunity is Part-Time, Monday to Friday for approximately 25 hours per week.

Essential Criteria for Successful Applicants:

• Efficient and capable of cooking with the ability to follow a set menu.
• Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control.
• Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.
• Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies and specific dietary requirements.
• Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events.
• Possess a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
• Help nourish the children in our care with your culinary expertise as well as any input you may have to contribute towards growing our own fresh produce.
• Be a positive person who will develop strong relationships with families, children, colleagues and the community.
• Have a current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
• Must hold FSS (Food Safety Supervisor Certificate), Current Food Safety Certificate (or willing to obtain).
• Have a current First Aid Certificate including CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training (or willing to obtain).
• Experience or education within an early childhood setting will be highly regarded.
