Job summary

Swiss Re in Sydney is seeking a Casualty Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio of casualty claims from notification to resolution. The role suits a lawyer with 3–4 years PQE in insurance or a claims professional with 5 years of casualty claims experience.

You will assess coverage, liability, quantum and reserving while building strong relationships with brokers, insureds and internal teams to deliver timely, fair outcomes. Hybrid work arrangement applies with three in-office days weekly.

Qualifications

• Law degree with PQE or 3–5 years casualty/insurance claims experience.
• Ability to interpret complex policy wordings and coverage issues.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with reserving, portfolio analysis and claims performance metrics.
• Exposure to AI-enabled tools and digital solutions in claims handling.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of casualty claims from notification to resolution.
• Assess coverage, liability, quantum and reserving requirements.
• Develop and implement claim strategies tailored to each matter.
• Monitor claim developments and ensure timely progression.
• Maintain accurate claim records and management reporting.
• Engage external counsel and experts and collaborate with underwriting and risk teams.
