Job summary

Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a Casual Usher in Melbourne to welcome patrons, assist seating, and answer enquiries. You will support Front of House, venue operations, hospitality services and merchandise sales to ensure events run smoothly and safely.

You should have customer service experience, be reliable and adaptable, and able to work as part of a team. A current Working with Children Check and RSA are required or you must be willing to obtain them.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, preferably in arts, events or hospitality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organised, reliable and adaptable, able to prioritise under pressure.
• Physically able to stand or sit for extended periods and lift/carry equipment.
• Current Working with Children Check and RSA; willing to obtain if needed.
• Fire Warden Training desirable or willing to undertake.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, professional and responsive customer service to patrons, hirers and visitors.
• Assist patrons with seating, enquiries and accessibility needs to ensure a positive event experience.
• Support the smooth running of performances and events by working collaboratively with the Front of House team and Duty Manager.
• Help set up and pack down venue equipment and maintain clean, safe Front of House areas.
• Assist with theatre bar, kiosk and hospitality operations.
• Support merchandise sales, including cash handling, stock management and reconciliation.
• Follow venue policies and procedures, including WHS and emergency evacuation requirements.

• Casual Position.
• Salary commencing at $49.88 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity

As a Casual Usher, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for patrons, hirers and visitors. Working as part of a friendly and collaborative team, you will provide outstanding customer service, assist patrons with seating and enquiries, and help ensure events run smoothly and safely. The role also works across venue operations, hospitality services and merchandise sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering friendly, professional and responsive customer service to patrons, hirers and visitors.

Skills & Experience

You will have demonstrated experience in a customer service role, ideally within the performing arts, events or hospitality industries, along with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage positively with people from diverse backgrounds. You will be organised, reliable and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, remain calm and professional under pressure, and work effectively as part of a team. A genuine interest in the performing arts and live events is desirable. You will also have the physical capacity to stand or sit for periods of time and safely lift and carry equipment as required. A current Working with Children Check and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate are required, or you must be willing to obtain them. Fire Warden Training is also desirable, or you must be willing to undertake the training.
