Job summary

Urban Paddock Co. is seeking a Café Manager to lead a busy café operation with autonomy and a focus on delivering high-quality coffee and customer service.

You will develop the team, manage financial performance, supervise suppliers, and contribute to growth initiatives while upholding the welcoming culture the business is known for.

Qualifications

• Ideally experience in café, restaurant or hospitality management.
• Ideally experience in speciality coffee and working on a machine.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop and manage a team.
• Sound financial understanding, including budgeting, wage costs, product costing and profitability.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A comprehensive understanding of food safety, workplace health and safety, and employment obligations.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to manage challenging situations professionally.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• A genuine passion for quality food, coffee, customer service and hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Team leadership and development: Working alongside the director of operations in recruitment, rostering, onboarding, training and staff performance, while fostering a positive and professional workplace culture.
• Daily operations: Overseeing service, maintaining exceptional food and beverage standards, implementing effective systems and ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience.
• Financial performance: Monitoring sales, labour costs, stock levels, wastage and profitability, using data to make informed business decisions and achieve KPIs.
• Stock and supplier management: Managing ordering, supplier relationships, product costing and stock availability to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
• Compliance and workplace safety: Ensuring all food safety, WHS, employment and operational requirements are consistently met.
• Business development: Identifying opportunities for growth, improving operational processes and contributing to marketing, menu development and business strategy.
• Customer experience: Building strong relationships with our customers, managing feedback and maintaining the welcoming and professional environment we're known for.

Job description

As Café Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient and profitable operation of Urban Paddock Co., while maintaining the high standards and values that define our business. This is a hands‑on leadership role with significant autonomy and responsibility. You'll oversee everything from team development and customer service to financial performance, operational efficiency and business growth.
