Job summary

Alpha Car Hire is seeking a hands-on Second-in-Charge at our Eagle Farm branch near Brisbane. You will support the Branch Manager, coordinate a busy fleet and empower the team to deliver outstanding service daily.

Ideal candidates bring fleet management experience, proven leadership, and exceptional customer service. You’ll make fast operational decisions in a fast-paced environment and drive branch performance with a proactive mindset.

Qualifications

• Availability to work seven days a week with a flexible roster.
• Experience in fleet management, transport, logistics or car hire (highly preferred).
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong organisational skills to juggle priorities.
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive mindset with fast decision-making in a high-paced environment.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager with daily operations and decision-making.
• Oversee the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence.
• Coordinate vehicle fleet maintenance, compliance and availability.
• Manage vehicle scheduling, allocations and returns.
• Lead, mentor and support branch staff to hit service and performance targets.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional, timely and friendly service.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer service and overall branch performance.
• Handle branch reporting, compliance and administration.

ABOUT Alpha CAR Hire

As one of Australia’s leading independent car hire companies, we are growing fast and need a hands-on, proactive and business-minded Second-in-Charge (2IC) to help steer our daily operations at our freshly renovated Eagle Farm branch.

You will be on the floor supporting the Branch Manager, coordinating a busy fleet and empowering our team to deliver outstanding service every single day. What You’ll Need Under The Hood

• Availability: As the branch operates seven days a week, flexibility with your working days is required to support the roster.
• Previous experience in fleet management, transport, logistics or car hire (highly preferred).
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Stellar organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
• The confidence to make fast operational decisions in a high-paced environment.
• A current unrestricted driver’s licence.

STEERING DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS

• Supporting the Branch Manager with daily operations and critical decision-making.
• Stepping up to oversee the branch and keep things running smoothly in the Branch Manager’s absence.
• Coordinating the vehicle fleet to ensure vehicles are maintained, compliant and available.
• Managing vehicle scheduling, allocations and returns for everyone.
• Leading, mentoring and supporting branch staff to hit service and performance targets.
• Building strong customer relationships through professional, timely and friendly service
• Identifying fresh opportunities to improve efficiency, customer service and overall branch performance.
• Handling branch reporting, compliance and administration.
