Job summary

Travellers Autobarn in Cairns is seeking a practical, hands‑on Assistant Branch Manager to join the team and work with the Branch Manager across customers, vehicles, maintenance and day‑to‑day running of the branch.

This hands‑on role involves helping customers get on the road, vehicle checks, minor repairs and coordinating with local repairers, with a clear path to develop into a Branch Manager role in the future.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s licence.
• Strong practical, mechanical or handyman skills with comfort using tools.
• Strong communication skills—clear, calm and confident.
• Good attention to detail and an organised approach.
• Strong work ethic—you show up, step up and follow through.
• Confidence using computers, apps and basic admin systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager with the day-to-day running of the Cairns branch.
• Help lead the team and keep the day organised, productive and moving.
• Oversee vehicle preparation and cleaning quality, stepping in for detail work and touch-ups when required.
• Complete vehicle checks, identify faults and carry out minor repairs and maintenance.
• Coordinate larger mechanical work with external repairers and suppliers.
• Deliver great customer service across campervan pickups, returns and everything in between.
• Keep maintenance records, fleet movements, expenses and other branch admin up to date.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workplace.
• Drive local sales, upsell extras and support vehicle sales.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Branch Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the Cairns branch.

What You Bring

What You’ll Get

• $60,000 base salary + super

• Monthly commission on insurance, add‑ons and vehicle sales — no cap

• Monthly performance bonus — up to $500 (at risk)

• Annual $5,000 retention bonus (at risk)

• OTE $70,000–$75,000+
