Job summary

SMBC seeks an Assistant Vice President - Real Estate Finance Australia to assess corporate real estate and development opportunities, review financial information, build models, analyse projects, and prepare credit papers for approvals, while supporting transaction execution and client service.

The role is within the REF, CBAP team, requiring 3–5 years in banking, strong financial analysis skills, and proficiency with MS Office. You will contribute to policy improvements and portfolio monitoring.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a banking deal origination or credit role.
• Strong understanding of Real Estate Finance and corporate banking.
• Advanced ability to analyze financial statements and model cash flows.
• Knowledge of credit processes and documentation.
• Excellent numeracy and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver detailed credit and financial analysis for corporate and real estate customers.
• Build and review financial models and cash flow projections.
• Prepare reports and presentations for customers and advisors.
• Prepare credit papers for credit approvals.
• Manage loan documentation negotiation and execution.
• Support portfolio administration and ongoing monitoring.
• Contribute to policy/process improvements and portfolio analysis.
• Assist senior team with implementation of strategy.
